light and breezy.

My favorite fixture.

And here is my least favorite. In regards to design.
But it has taught me the calming joy of sleeping beneath a breeze.
Which I love.

kitchen confused.

the kitchen is not bad. i'm really not complaining. because i have a kitchen. but i am a bit confused.

why is the dishwasher so far from the sink? shouldn't it switch places with the drawers? so that water doesn't dripp all over....oh, everything?

and while i'm at it, why are the drawer pulls gold? and the cabinets orange?

color.

Paint on the walls is always nice. But when that paint includes color? Nice-er.

re-decorating.

While I believe in living well, loving much, and laughing often. I do not believe in advertising it all over my dining room wall.
but i've been so busy living, loving and laughing that it's still on the wall. and probably will be. for a long time.

passing along the happy.

This made me happy. Very happy.

Thank you Design Mom for making me happy. We should all have an old piano to paint. Grass Green.

Joy.

storing shoes.

I have a confession. This is our shoe closet.

And this.

So I put this to you. The reader. What's your solution? Before you answer, I need to give you a bit of information.
I want the shoes close to our garage for easy removal. I can't handle, CAN'T HANDLE, seriously nerotically can't handle the kids, or spouse wearing these in the house.

Visitors, before you judge me, you are welcome to wear the shoes in the house. Honest. I don't mind. You don't know what you're getting into and I know that I can't hold you accountable.

But the immediate family? They know better. And anything that saves me a bit of cleaning is worth it. For everyone.

So I need a way to organize. Without having to remodel the house.

Any ideas?

designing.

I tried to get fancy this week. I bought a new shower curtain. A cloth shower curtain. The first that I've ever purchased. I showed Clin the package - he didn't seem to have an opinion, so I hung it up.

The first comment toward the curtain? "It's dark."

And then he noticed the birds. But they are few and far between. And they're blue. Who can say no to blue birds? I couldn't.

The comments progressed into intonations of grandmotherly design.

So I took it down and bought this one.

Admit it - you miss the blue birds. Don't you.
